Eligibility Requirements

We serve elderly, infirm, and/or homebound residents of Galveston Island who are unable to prepare or secure their own meals. Referrals are welcome and come from many sources, with the majority coming from discharge planners and social workers of local hospitals.

To make a referral or apply for services, please complete the application (available here) and return to our office via email (volunteer@mealsonwheelsgalveston.org). Please note that we only service Galveston Island residents. If you live off the Island, please reach out to a local agency for services. All meal applicants will be contacted by a member of our staff as soon as possible.

We are located at 2803 53rd Street, Galveston, TX (inside Moody Methodist Church), and our office is staffed from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Individual Cost of the Meals

The cost of each meal is $6.00.   Recipients are asked to contribute what they can towards this cost, but no one is denied meals due to an inability to contribute. Over 88% of meal recipients do not contribute towards the cost of their meals. Generous donors and grantors, and fundraising, make up the difference in cost.
